Painting a clay plaster is one of the most beautiful tasks in building: this activity produces results very directly, and satisfaction with what has been created is foreseeable! It is an almost contemplative act in which the room is given its face.
Previously that, a lot of work, a lot of dirt and dust was necessary before a wall was finally ready to be painted. And a lot of thought was given to color shades and qualities: Which color is optimal for the substrate? How do the colors affect the room?
Of course, clay plaster harmonizes very well with clay paints. Our manufacturers produce them in a wide range of colors, ready-mixed in standard shades at the factory. If that is not enough variety for you, you can customize all the colors yourself with pigments.
Brushed clay plaster
In addition to "classic" wall paints, there are also so-called brushed clay plasters. They are applied in a thicker layer than paint, giving them a depth and three-dimensionality that can never be achieved with one single coat. Such a coat is extremely filling and conceals inhomogeneous substrates well.
By adding the Clay brushed plaster additive to the Conluto clay paint, you can easily make them yourself. The clay plaster from Conluto is available in various colors: There are 35 standard colors that you can mix with each other. And the brush plasters can also be adapted to your own needs with pigments.
The clay paint manufacturer Clayfix also has clay paint in three different grain sizes in its range, of which the coarse and medium versions can also be used as brush plaster. The different grain sizes of the brushed clay plasters result in their own individual surface and thus open up additional design options for you.

Paint a clay plaster with lime paint? A wonderful combination!
Lime paints harmonize particularly well with lime substrates, but because of their diffusion-open character they are also suitable for painting clay plaster. Occasionally you should apply a priming coat with the right primer.
By the way, properly executed coatings with lime do not rub off, which is, however, a major and persistent prejudice. Color only chalked off if it was not processed properly or a product of inferior "hardware store quality" was used.
Swamp lime paints cover well, adhere to all mineral substrates and are usually very easy to work with. The swamp lime paint from Hessler still stands out due to its very good quality.
All lime paints can be colored with quick lime pigments.
Beautiful surfaces can also be created with silicate paints in ecological construction. The plaster substrate for a silicate paint always contains silicon (lime, clay or lime-cement plaster). Silicate paints do not hinder the diffusion-based moisture transport within the wall, because they are free of film-forming substances and therefore also completely open to diffusion.
Its use in interiors on a clay plaster is particularly recommended for allergy sufferers and people with a sensitivity to chemical substances. Silicate paints do not emit any preservatives or solvents and are free from plasticizers and fungicides.
