Conluto earth wrap
Handmade clay wraps made from straw and clay. These clay wraps, also known as wrapped staves or oak wattle staves, are installed in intermediate ceilings or half-timbered walls.
Clay wraps are one of the oldest clay building techniques. This time-honoured principle still works perfectly today and is used in both old and new buildings. The wrap has a high mass; the clay built into the house stores heat and cold. The wrap absorbs sound.
The clay wraps are handmade to traditional patterns in various lengths. After wrapping, the staves are pre-dried using wind alone. Special dimensions are of course available.
The diameter varies between 12 and 14 cm.
Clay staves are the best plaster base and are as much a part of the half-timbered house as the timber frame itself.

The wrapped stave has a high mass, so the clay built into the house stores heat and cold. The wrapped stave absorbs sound and can buffer fluctuations in indoor humidity.
The clay-wrapped staves are handmade in various lengths, following traditional methods. After wrapping, the staves are pre-dried by wind only. Custom sizes are of course available.
