pro clima by MOLL bauökologische Produkte GmbH
pro clima is a brand of MOLL bauökologische Produkte GmbH and has stood for reliable sealing of the building envelope for more than 30 years. At its core is the interplay of interior airtightness, exterior windtightness and the matching connection products: a humidity-variable vapour retarder on the inside of the insulation ensures that any moisture that has penetrated can dry out again in a controlled manner, while the windtightness membrane on the outside protects the construction against driving rain and remains vapour-permeable at the same time. This keeps the thermal insulation working over the long term and prevents moisture-related structural damage.
Many airtightness products are based on the Hydrosafe® principle: the membrane changes its diffusion resistance (sd value) by a factor of more than 100 depending on the ambient moisture content. In winter, when indoor air is dry, it slows the ingress of moisture into the construction; in summer, when more moisture is present, it opens up and allows any moisture that has penetrated to dry out towards the interior in a controlled manner. The performance of several product lines is officially confirmed by a European Technical Assessment (ETA-18/1146).
1. External windtightness layer
Protects the structure from driving rain and wind on the outside while remaining vapour-permeable, so that moisture can escape to the outside.
2. Fasteners
Permanently bond membranes to one another at seams, junctions and penetrations to create an airtight and windtight seal.
3. Internal airtight layer
Prevents indoor air moisture from entering the insulation on the interior side and allows any moisture that has penetrated to dry out again in a controlled manner.
External wind barrier
SOLITEX roof underlays and sarking membranes protect the structure from the weather on the outside, are vapour-permeable and resistant to driving rain. The range includes SOLITEX MENTO (in several weight classes from 1000 to 5000), SOLITEX FRONTA (wall sheathing membranes for façades), SOLITEX ADHERO (self-adhesive membranes) and SOLITEX WELDANO (seam-welded roof underlays). Many variants are also available with a self-adhesive "connect" bonding zone, which speeds up installation on site.
Taking SOLITEX MENTO 3000 as an example: sd value 0.05 m, water column 10,000 mm, up to 4 months' exposure to the weather permitted before the roof covering is installed. The monolithic TEEE membrane is fitted on both sides with a protective and cover fleece made of polypropylene microfibre.
Internal airtightness layer
INTELLO, DASATOP and DB+ are humidity-variable vapour control layers for the inner side of the insulation. Following the Hydrosafe® principle, their diffusion resistance adapts to the moisture in the construction with a range of more than 100-fold, so that any moisture that has penetrated can dry out again in a controlled way. The product family comprises INTELLO, INTELLO PLUS, INTELLO X and INTELLO X PLUS for new builds, DASATOP and DASATOP FIX for sub-and-top installation in renovations, and DB+ as a vapour control layer made of building paper.
Suitable for roofs, walls, ceilings and floors, in constructions that are either vapour-permeable or vapour-tight on the outside, and compatible with all fibrous batt and board insulation materials. Its performance has been officially confirmed for several products in the line (ETA-18/1146).
Fasteners
Airtightness and windtightness membranes only work with suitable connecting materials at seams, junctions and penetrations. The pro clima range includes adhesive tapes for membrane overlaps on smooth surfaces (e.g. TESCON), connection tapes for plaster and window junctions (CONTEGA), cable and pipe grommets with integrated seals (KAFLEX, ROFLEX), brushable and sprayable liquid sealant for irregular substrates (AEROSANA) and connection adhesive for rough and uneven substrates (ORCON).
The products are designed to work together and are installed together with the windproofing and airtightness membranes, so that a continuous sealed layer is created at every point of the building envelope.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an airtight layer and a windtight layer?
The airtight layer sits on the inside, on the warm side of the insulation, and prevents moist indoor air from penetrating the construction. The windtight layer sits on the outside, on the cold side, and protects the insulation from wind and driving rain while still allowing moisture to escape to the outside. Both layers are designed to be moisture-variable or vapour-permeable, so that any residual moisture that has entered can dry out in both directions.
Why humidity-variable instead of a fixed vapour barrier?
A rigid vapour barrier with a constantly high sd value does prevent moisture ingress in winter, but it also blocks drying out in summer. Humidity-variable membranes such as INTELLO adjust their diffusion resistance to the actual moisture conditions and allow the construction to dry out in both directions.
Which pro clima products are available in the Lehm-Laden shop?
The complete pro clima core range: windproofing membranes (SOLITEX MENTO, FRONTA, ADHERO, WELDANO), airtightness membranes (INTELLO, DASATOP, DB+, DA) and the matching connection products (TESCON, CONTEGA, KAFLEX, ROFLEX, AEROSANA, ORCON) in the sizes available in each case.
