SORIWA – The steel-free drywall system

Multi-layer fibre profiles made from 87.9 % recycled cellulose replace CW, UW and UA metal profiles in non-load-bearing interior fit-out.

To the SORIWA products

One profile, three functions

At the heart of the SORIWA Multi-System is the SORIWA Multi Profil – a multi-layer fibre profile made from recycled cellulose. Together with the SORIWA Verbinder and the SORIWA Kern, it replaces all conventional drywall profiles and forms a completely steel-free stud framework for non-load-bearing interior walls in drywall construction.

Instead of many different metal profiles, you only need one basic profile in three widths. The SORIWA Multi Profil has no sharp edges, can be worked with standard drywall tools and holds a general building-authority approval (abZ Z-9.1-929).

Who is SORIWA?

SORIWA GmbH from Warendorf in the Münsterland region was founded in 2023 by Andreas Ridder and Michael Sommer. Together, the two industry experts bring more than 30 years of experience from the timber and building materials industry.

Their goal: a drywall system that does without steel yet is still easy to install. With the Multi-System made from recycled cellulose, they have brought the first building block for this to market – tested, approved and proven in practice.

SORIWA Multi Profil

The basic profile of the system. It serves as a horizontal connecting profile at floor and ceiling (replacing UW profiles) and, with the matching connector, as a vertical stud profile (replacing CW profiles).

  • Widths 50, 75 and 100 mm
  • Lengths 3.00 / 3.50 / 4.00 m, special lengths on request
  • Material: 87.9 % recycled cellulose, 1.5 % virgin fibre, 10.6 % Faserbond adhesive
  • No sharp edges – lower risk of injury

The other system components

SORIWA connector

Screwed onto the end of a Multi profile, it turns it into a full replacement for CW and UW profiles – stable yet flexible. Also made from recycled cellulose.

SORIWA Kern

A square timber section that is inserted into the Multi Profil in the area of door openings to provide additional stability (UA replacement).

SORIWA Door Lintel

Prefabricated, ready-to-install component made from recycled cellulose fibre. Adjustable to three common door widths via side openings.

Connectors, cores and door lintels are available on request. Get in touch, if you need a complete system delivery.

Material and Circularity

SORIWA fibre profiles consist of 87.9 % recycled cellulose. A verified Environmental Product Declaration is available for their environmental impact (EPD Kiwa-EE-221187-DE in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2:2019).

  • GWP-total (modules A1–A3): −0.314 to −0.231 kg CO2 eq. per linear metre (depending on width), according to EPD Kiwa-EE-221187-DE
  • Recyclability: verified as recyclable with waste paper (PTS certificate, RecLab Test Method Part I)
  • Indoor air: tested according to the AgBB scheme 2024 – TVOC and individual values on day 3 and day 28 below the limit values
  • Reaction to fire: Building material class E according to DIN EN 13501-1

Quick and reliable to apply

Almost nothing changes on site: the Multi Profil is worked with a saw and cordless screwdriver, can additionally be stapled and is installed in the usual drywall grid.

  • No sharp metal edges – lower risk of cuts
  • Compatible with standard tools, no need to rethink
  • Fire resistance of the wall: EI 30 and EI 60 (DIN EN 13501-2), F 30-B / F 60-B under German building regulations
  • Sound reduction index Rw: 44.2 dB with single boarding, 52.3 dB with double boarding (DIN EN ISO 717-1)

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get the SORIWA profiles?

At Lehm-Laden we stock the SORIWA Multi Profil in bundles of 8 pieces, in widths of 50, 75 and 100 mm and lengths of 3.00 / 3.50 / 4.00 m. Connectors, core and door lintel are available on request.

Why is the Multi Profil sold in bundles?

A small bundle corresponds to 8 profiles – the pack size from SORIWA. The profiles are delivered bundled as long lengths. Individual profiles to top up your order are available on request by telephone.

How does the profile behave in the event of fire?

The Multi Profil is classified as building material class E in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1. In tested wall assemblies with double boarding, EI 30 or EI 60 in accordance with DIN EN 13501-2 is achieved (F 30-B / F 60-B under German building regulations).

Which tools do I need?

The usual drywall tools: a saw or mitre saw for cutting to length, a cordless screwdriver for fixing. The profile can also be stapled. No change of approach is needed on site.

What happens in the event of water damage?

According to the manufacturer, water damage does not immediately cause the wall to fail. In tests, the profiles stood several centimetres deep in water; after drying out, their dimensional stability was restored. As with any drywall system, whether the wall needs to be repaired must be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

How do I dispose of offcuts?

Recyclability as waste paper has been verified by a PTS certificate (RecLab Test Method Part I). The core is squared timber.
