Straw-clay
If you want to make clay wraps or clay wafers yourself, you can do this with your own mixture of long straw and clay. Alternatively, you can also make it from this straw and simple jute fabric. Here the Lehmweller wood is wrapped with the mixture and the jute fabric is wrapped around it. The jute fabric is necessary because there is hardly any long straw left.
This straw clay can be thrown directly onto wickerwork in the framework. You should use a small hand fork for this; the material can hardly be processed with a trowel.
The straw clay can be used as a clay layer for a ceiling. Boards, often with a small joint, are laid between or on the ceiling beams. Then there is a clay layer made from this straw clay. An old technique is also possible here with long straw. The long straw penetrates between the gaps and is spread directly on the underside, so the wood is covered directly with a layer of straw and clay and can be plastered directly. To do this, you have to use strips that are as narrow as possible and have long straw available.
