Hemp insulation strips for edges

The hemp edge insulation strip can be used to decouple a floating screed.

In terms of decoupling values, the 3 mm hemp insulation strip matches the usual polystyrene edge insulation strips. The hemp insulation strips in 

5 mm or 10 mm is used to decouple a floorboard floor from the joists. Make sure that the floorboards or floor covering are not screwed to the joists. Screwing the floor covering to the joists transmits impact sound directly. If you try to screw through a hemp fleece, the hemp fibre wraps itself around the screw so that it will go neither forwards nor backwards.

The edge insulation strip can also be used together with the hemp clay adhesive to create an airtight bond, which can then be plastered over directly. This can be used where beams penetrate internal insulation layers or for connecting windows to internal insulation.
