Classic micaceous iron-oxide (“scale-armour”) paint with linseed oil, colour DB 703 (anthracite-grey metallic). Opaque, weatherproof rust protection for de-rusted steel indoors and out – pure resin-free oil paint, does not creep-rust at damage, spot-repairable. Coverage: approx. 0.12 l/m² per coat (2-3 coats recommended) – 375 ml ≈ 3 m², 750 ml ≈ 6 m², 2.5 l ≈ 21 m² per coat.

    KREIDEZEIT Rust Protection Paint is a classic “scale armour paint” with a high proportion of micaceous iron oxide, a naturally occurring, glossy black pigment with a pronounced flaky structure. On steel it forms a dense “armour” that strongly impedes the penetration of water and oxygen and protects the coating against UV degradation.

    The shade is DB 703 (anthracite grey metallic, as used by Deutsche Bahn). The paint is a resin-free pure oil paint: it does not flake or crack, does not suffer from rust creep at scratches and damaged areas, and can be renovated or spot-repaired by cleaning and overpainting.

    Geeignete Untergründe

    Thoroughly hand-derusted, untreated steel surfaces indoors and outdoors; also decorative on wood. Not on galvanised surfaces without a bonding primer, not on soft synthetic resin coatings.

    Anwendung & Verarbeitung

    Substrate: Thoroughly derust the steel (at least manual derusting), degrease and dry.

    Application: Apply thinly and evenly with a brush, usually 2 coats, allowing each coat to dry completely. Application temperature at least 8 °C.

    Repair: Clean damaged areas, lightly sand if necessary and touch up locally.

    Tools & cleaning: Paintbrush; clean immediately with gum turpentine.

    Why “scale armour paint”?
    The high proportion of flake-shaped micaceous iron oxide settles on the steel like armour, making it harder for water and oxygen to penetrate – as described in old painters' handbooks.

    Do I need to remove rust first?
    Yes, thoroughly derust by hand and degrease. Unlike conventional anti-corrosion coatings, however, KREIDEZEIT Rust Protection Paint does not allow rust to creep underneath at damaged areas.

    Can I repair it?
    Yes, simply clean the damaged areas and touch them up locally.

    Which colour?
