Roman cement

Anwendung von Romanzement

Mortar that is durable against environmental influences, salt exposure, seawater, moisture and freeze-thaw cycles. Work at low temperatures is possible, high material thicknesses can be achieved, and iron is passivated (corrosion protection of reinforcing steel).

Binder for very rapid-stiffening mortars, approx. 3-10 min., for casting compounds, ornaments, run mouldings on façades, passivating mortar for iron parts, slurry coats, repair mortar for historic Roman cements.
Binder component for rapid-stiffening mortars, approx. 15-60 min, consisting of Prompt and C2S-rich NHL for masonry mortar, jointing mortar, plinth render, plastering mortar, fair-faced mortars, lightweight plasters, mineral renovation plaster systems, casting mortars, lime building blocks, run mouldings on façades, lime floors, lime fillers, lime terrazzo, thick-bed mortar for terracotta, backfill compounds, lime slurries, stone repair compound, repair mortar for historic Roman limes.

 Roman cement is used in particular for producing hemp-lime. Hemp-lime is a mixture of lime and hemp shiv; it is used to insulate houses, either as retrofitted internal insulation or cast monolithically as a complete wall element.

Preparing substrates

Mineral, load-bearing, absorbent, free of separating layers and gypsum. Well-suited substrates: solid masonry, sound remnants of old plaster, stable Roman cement and Roman lime applications, mineral aggregate, concrete slabs, lime-cement screed.
