Ein Krankenhaus, das als Bauwerk heilt

"In this book I would like to confine myself to Rudolf Steiner's organic architecture, an anthroposophical architecture that can have a healing effect on the life processes and the soul of the human being, so that the effect of these buildings on people goes far beyond that of other existing organic buildings.

I would wish that a ‘hospital that heals as a building’ were a truly organic building. The solid has emerged from the fluid. The organic building should therefore be experienced as if it were flowing water held fast, a spring, a river. And just as sunlight touches the eye, light also touches the forms of the building. And I would wish that sunlight enters the space and meets the forms so that healing power arises, just as light also refreshes the eye.

The concept of the patient with which we wish to work is as follows: the patient is a supreme being suffering physically or mentally, who must be enveloped in love, wisdom and beauty and cared for to the utmost. In short, it seems important to me to design and build a building that meets these requirements as perfectly as possible."
