Stuffing hemp in bales
Stuffing hemp in bales of ~ 30 kg, heat and sound insulation.
Insulation made from natural raw materials
Hemp as an insulation material for cavities in existing buildings or new builds.
Hemp insulation is suitable for insulating roof surfaces, external walls or as insulation for the top-floor ceiling. Hemp copes very well with moisture entering the building components through vapour diffusion and does not lose any of its insulating performance as a result of moisture ingress.
It must always be ensured that the insulation build-up can dry out again; permanently damp insulation must always be avoided and will inevitably lead to damage – regardless of the type of insulation.
The hemp plant is a very
undemanding plant. Industrial hemp requires no fertilisers or
pesticides during cultivation; only during the establishment phase does
irrigation need attention. Thanks to its deep rooting in the soil, hemp quickly
becomes self-sufficient and at the same time enriches the soil. These
cultivation conditions also mean that no additives or
fertiliser residues are found in the insulation material.
Installing the hemp insulation
Installing hemp stuffing insulation is child's play. Unlike other hemp insulation materials, no cutting to size is required, so there are no offcuts. The hemp insulation felts together very easily and can therefore be stuffed behind battens without any problem and without falling out again. This also works for ceiling insulation or on sloping roof sections. Stuffing hemp insulation requires no effort. As soon as the substructure for the next layer has been fitted, the cavity can be insulated.
Approximately 60 kg of hemp per m³ is required. It is easy to tell when the right amount has been packed in. Too little material falls out or visible holes form; too much insulation bulges back out. Hemp insulation can be used indoors as internal insulation for external walls or outdoors as insulation behind a ventilated timber cladding or a plaster base board.
We ship the hemp stuffing fibre in bales of approx. 30 kg by freight carrier. With freight shipments (more than 32 bales), the plastic packaging can also be omitted. In this case, the hemp is held together with wires.
