Clay paste as a plaster base

The slurry adhesive or clay paste from Hanffaserfabrik Uckermark is used together with the hemp fleece as a plaster base on rough-sawn tongue-and-groove boarding or other continuous timber surfaces. 10 kg of slurry adhesive is sufficient for 25 m² of linen fleece.

The combination of hemp fleece and slurry adhesive is also ideal for airtight sealing. Here, airtight sealing can be achieved entirely without adhesive tapes or sealants. The flexible hemp fleece can be securely fixed with the slurry adhesive in all corners and edges, at beam penetrations, junctions and other problem areas. In this case, the slurry adhesive provides the sealing function, while the hemp fleece holds the slurry adhesive in place.

An airtight seal made of hemp fleece and slurry adhesive is permanently "self-healing" and free of chemical additives. Should a leak develop at the sealed point or unexpected moisture occur, the clay contained in the slurry adhesive swells and closes the leak again.

With an adhesive tape used for airtight sealing, permanent and reliable adhesion to all substrates is questionable. The slurry glue simply cannot help but stick. The slurry glue contains nothing but rye glue and clay. When being worked, rye glue smells of beer and bread and could even be eaten in an emergency (but not on its own – it really does stick everything together!!!).
