KREIDEZEIT Holzlasur is an oil glaze with a high linseed oil content for interior and exterior wood surfaces. Because it remains elastic, it does not flake, peel or crack; instead, it gradually weathers away at the surface and can be renovated by cleaning and recoating.

Indoors, it can be used unpigmented. Outdoors, lightfast pigments must be added – they accentuate the grain, provide good UV protection and protect against greying and premature weathering.

Use & Application

Preparation: Wood must be clean, dry, planed or sanded. Pre-treat highly absorbent areas (end grain, cut edges) with KREIDEZEIT resin oil or primer oil.

Tinting: For exterior use, add lightfast KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments (UV protection). For interior use, colourless or pigmented.

Application: Apply thinly and evenly with a brush in the direction of the grain, 2–3 coats with drying between coats. Remove any excess; do not build up a film.

Maintenance: Refresh weathered surfaces with KREIDEZEIT Care Oil before they turn matt.

Tools & cleaning: Paintbrush; clean immediately with gum turpentine, then wash with soap.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the glaze not flake off?
KREIDEZEIT Holzlasur has a high linseed oil content and remains elastic. It does not form a brittle film; instead, its surface gradually weathers away, and it can be renovated by cleaning and recoating.

Clear or pigmented?
Indoors, a clear finish can be used. Outdoors, lightfast pigments are required – they accentuate the grain, provide UV protection and prevent greying.

How many coats are needed and how do I maintain the surface?
As a rule, two to three thin coats with drying time in between. To maintain weathered surfaces, use KREIDEZEIT Care Oil before the surface turns matt.

Where is the glaze not suitable?
Not on rough-sawn timber, synthetic-resin-based existing coatings or roof surfaces. Use on floors only to a limited extent and on request.
