HP 9200 brushable lime plaster
Working with lime made easy
Hessler lime brush-on plaster is suitable for many substrates. The brush-on plaster makes it easy to create a textured surface that closely resembles a plastered wall. The grainy texture of the brush-on plaster resembles a plaster surface finished with a sponge float.
Add approx. 8 litres of water to the contents of the bucket (6.5 kg of dry powder). Stir vigorously and for a long time. Prolonged stirring improves the quality of the coating. The ready-mixed lime brush-on plaster can now be applied evenly, and not too thickly, with a roller or brush. The full hiding power of the fresh brush-on plaster becomes apparent once it has dried.
The pH value of the lime of 11–13 (9–11 in the long term) creates conditions in the brush-on plaster that are unfavourable to mould growth; with persistently high humidity, eliminating the cause of the damp and adequate ventilation are necessary. It contains no synthetic binders or preservatives. As a result, the brush-on plaster can, with little effort, absorb moisture from the indoor air and release it again, thus buffering short-term fluctuations in indoor humidity.
Suitable substrates are lime, lime-cement, clay and gypsum plasters, gypsum plasterboards, stone and masonry. Gypsum-containing or non-homogeneous substrates in particular should be pre-coated with Hessler Naturkalk-Grundierung (lime primer). With a pre-coat of Naturkalk-Grundierung (lime primer), a single coat of the brushable plaster is usually sufficient.
As a rule, two coats are required for a perfect result; the second coat should be applied no earlier than one day after the first. Hessler Kalk-Streichputz is white, but can be tinted with the pigments to suit your wishes and creativity.
For application with a roller, I recommend the padded wall paint roller; for application with a brush, the oval ceiling brush.
1 bucket of Hessler lime brush-on plaster covers 20 m² with a single coat. The coating is thicker than that of a lime paint, which results in lower coverage for a similar quantity. Mixed quantities must be used immediately. If storage until the next day is necessary, the brush-on plaster should be kept cool and covered overnight.
