HP 950 Tadelakt
tadelakt, waterproof lime coating for indoor use
Yield: 20 m² with a 1 mm thickness
Hessler Tadelakt HP 950
Composition: Tadelakt HP 9500 contains natural hydraulic lime, hydrated white lime, marble granules, marble powders, clays, cellulose.
Area of application: HP 950 is used as a waterproof coating for interior use.
Substrate: Suitable substrates are lime plasters (mortar group 2a) and lime-cement plasters. Plasterboard, gypsum fibreboard, gypsum plasters etc. are not ideal substrates, but can be coated as follows: apply a tile adhesive as a bonding primer, then apply one coat of Tadelakt, leave to dry overnight and continue working with Tadelakt as on a new plaster substrate. The substrate may need to be pre-wetted. As a rule, the substrate must be load-bearing.
Application: HP 950 is mixed with approx. 0.4 l water/kg. The tadelakt is first applied in one coat with a trowel. Once it has firmed up slightly, apply a second coat. After it has firmed up again, the tadelakt is smoothed and compacted with a Venetian trowel. It is then compacted and polished with a polishing stone. This process is repeated several times. Before each compacting and polishing step, the tadelakt is brushed with a soap solution (e.g. Marseille soap) so that the water-insoluble lime soap can form. The polishing stone must be made of a hard, dense rock. One side of the stone should be smooth and polished.
In addition, there is a wide range of other tools for working tadelakt (e.g. small wooden floats, plastic spatulas, stainless steel trowels etc.). The choice of suitable tool depends on the conditions (surfaces, corners, personal willingness to experiment etc.).
