Pearlescent pigment Star Gold

KREIDEZEIT Pearlescent Pigments create shimmer, sheen and interference effects in decorative wall design. Each pigment has a core of mineral mica coated with one or more metal oxide layers – titanium dioxide for silver and interference pigments, titanium dioxide + iron oxide for gold pigments, iron oxide for metallic lustre pigments.

Pearlescent pigments only take effect in a colourless binder (wall glaze binder, rag wax, floor oils, water glass) or in the soap layer on KREIDEZEIT Stuccolustro and Tadelakt. They must not be mixed with earth or mineral pigments – the lustre effect is lost immediately.

Geeignete Untergründe

In colourless KREIDEZEIT binders (wall glaze binder, rag wax, floor oils, water glass) or in the smoothing soap layer on Stuccolustro and Tadelakt. Also on opaque coloured substrates for further effects.

Anwendung & Verarbeitung

Dosage: A maximum of 5–8% pearlescent pigment relative to the binder content (e.g. approx. 50 g per litre of rag wax).

Mixing in: Mix thoroughly but gently (stirring stick, whisk, kitchen mixer). Do not use a hand blender – the thin pigment flakes break and lose their lustre.

Mixing: Gold, silver and metallic lustre pigments can be mixed. Do not mix interference pigments with one another (this results in an unattractive grey) and never mix pearlescent pigments with earth/mineral pigments.

Application: Use a paint brush, cloth or sponge in the chosen technique; on Stuccolustro and Tadelakt, work it into the polishing soap layer.

Häufige Fragen

Why can't I see any shimmer?
Pearlescent pigments only work in a colourless binder. In opaque or tinted paints the effect disappears.

Which binder should I use?
Wall glaze binder, rag wax, floor oils or water glass – or the polishing soap layer on Stuccolustro and Tadelakt.

How much pigment do I add?
5–8 % relative to the binder, approximately 50 g per litre of cloth wax.

Can I mix pearlescent pigments?
Gold, silver and metallic lustre pigments, yes. Interference pigments must not be mixed with one another, and pearlescent pigments must never be mixed with earth or mineral pigments.

What do I use to stir it in?
Stir gently with a wooden stirring stick, whisk or kitchen mixer. Do not use a stick blender, otherwise the platelets will break.
