Shellac is an alcohol-soluble natural resin produced by lac insects and obtained by cleaning and bleaching. KREIDEZEIT Shellac Isolating Primer uses this blocking effect as a consolidating primer against bleeding colourants.

It seals water, rust, soot, dye and nicotine stains on almost all absorbent interior substrates and can be overpainted with KREIDEZEIT wall paints. Do not overcoat with lime-based plasters; not suitable against penetrating moisture and not for use on damp substrates.

    Frequently asked questions

What does Shellac Isolating Primer help against?
Against stains bleeding through from the substrate: water stains, rust, soot, nicotine and other water-soluble colourants.

Can I paint over it with lime paint afterwards?
No. Shellac is not compatible with lime-based plasters and paints. Continue with KREIDEZEIT Vega wall paint, clay paint or distemper.

Does it help against rising damp?
No. The insulating primer blocks colourants, not penetrating moisture. The cause of the moisture must be eliminated separately.
