Siccative

KREIDEZEIT Siccative is an additive for oil paints and oil glazes that accelerates the drying of the natural drying oils they contain. It is also used to restore the drying capacity of old oil paints that have lost drying power over long storage periods.

Siccative is not a stand-alone coating and must not be used as such – in particular not for subsequently hardening sticky, over-oiled surfaces.

Anwendung & Verarbeitung

Dosage: Add sparingly according to the manufacturer’s instructions for the oil paint in question and stir in thoroughly. Overdosing impairs the quality of the film.

Application: Only stir into the paint/glaze – do not apply to surfaces.

What do I need siccative for?

Can I apply siccative to a sticky oiled surface?
No. Siccative is not a coating and does not cure over-oiled surfaces.

How much do I add?
Only a very small amount, as specified by the paint manufacturer. Too much drying agent damages the paint film.
