KREIDEZEIT Marmorino is a lime filler for exclusive troweling techniques on interior walls and ceilings. The comparatively high layer thickness (two coats of approx. 1.5–2 mm each) and the aggregate it contains produce rather even, only slightly textured surfaces with a marble-like sheen.

After treatment with KREIDEZEIT smoothing soap, the surface becomes water-repellent and can therefore also be used in damp rooms (not in areas exposed to constant wetting). In combination with KREIDEZEIT Stucco Fein, high-gloss surfaces are possible.

Properties

  • Powder for mixing with water, shade: white
  • can be tinted with up to 10 % lime-fast KREIDEZEIT pigments
  • vapour-permeable: sd value < 0.1 m (DIN EN ISO 12572)
  • strongly alkaline (fresh application pH > 12.5)
  • high degree of whiteness thanks to fine marble powders, without titanium white
  • water-repellent after treatment with KREIDEZEIT smoothing soap
  • odourless once cured
  • vegan

Suitable substrates

Untreated, evenly absorbent lime and lime-cement plasters. All other plasters, rough surfaces, plasterboard and gypsum fibreboard must be primed and given a full-surface skim coat of Lime Bonding Plaster -fine- beforehand. Unsuitable: distemper, oil paints, latex paints, synthetic coatings, wood, metal, smooth or permanently damp surfaces, floors.

Use & Application

Priming / levelling the texture: Prime plasters, fillers, drywall boards and concrete with Casein Primer or Vega Primer. Additionally apply a full-surface skim coat of Lime Bonding Plaster -fine- to substrates that do not have ideal absorbency.

First coat: Pre-wet the substrate. Apply Marmorino evenly at just over grain thickness (approx. 1 mm), either smooth or with a slight texture, and leave to set until firm to the touch – do not smooth or compact.

Second coat: Apply another approx. 1 mm; as soon as the plaster starts to set, compact it with the trowel. The right moment depends greatly on the absorbency of the substrate and the ambient conditions.

Soaping: As soon as the surface is firm to the touch, apply a generous coat of KREIDEZEIT smoothing soap, allow it to take up briefly and burnish with the trowel. A water-insoluble lime soap forms, giving a higher sheen that repels dirt and water.

Application temperature: at least 8 °C.

Full declaration

Marble granules, marble hydrated lime, marble powders, cellulose, clays, methyl cellulose. The complete product information (technical data sheet and safety data sheet) must be observed during application.

Note: Lime products are strongly alkaline – protect eyes and skin and cover adjacent surfaces. Observe the safety data sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Can I carry out the technique myself?
Lime filler and smoothing techniques take practice. Prepare a test area beforehand; for demanding projects we recommend a training course or an experienced applicator.

Which primer / which base plaster do I need?
As a rule, Vega Primer or Casein Primer and a smooth skim coat of KREIDEZEIT Lime Smoothing Plaster or Lime Bonding Plaster -fine-. The texture of the base plaster will show through.

Is the surface waterproof?
After treatment with KREIDEZEIT Smoothing Soap, the surface becomes water-repellent (not waterproof) and less prone to soiling, also in damp rooms (not areas exposed to permanent wetness).

What can I use for tinting?
Lime-resistant KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments. The maximum permissible quantity is given in the Technical Data.
