Chopped straw for plaster
The reed reinforcing fibre is finely chopped thatching reed and an ideal additive for clay plaster. Unlike regular rye straw, it is made from a material that is considerably more moisture-resistant, which significantly reduces the risk of mould. Chopping splits the reed stalks into very fine fibres and coarser pieces, providing a very good reinforcing effect. There are also no grains that could sprout in the wall and none of the knots found in rye straw.
The colour of the thatching reed straw is so attractive that sponging the surface to expose the straw pieces works particularly well here.
The short chopped reed pieces are occasionally up to 20 mm long, while the long ones can be up to 40 mm long. Both variants are suitable for machine application
