KREIDEZEIT Vega Wandfarbe is a matt wall and ceiling paint with good opacity for interior use. The binder is plant casein (plant protein) digested with soda; Italian marble powders provide the bright white shade – without titanium white.

Supplying the product as a powder saves transport weight and packaging and eliminates the need for preservatives. It is mixed with water and can be tinted with KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments. For damp rooms we recommend KREIDEZEIT lime putty paint.

Suitable substrates

For interior use on all sound, absorbent plasters (clay, lime, gypsum, cement), fillers, woodchip wallpaper, pure paper wallpapers, paper-based non-woven wallpaper, plasterboard, gypsum fibreboards and concrete. On firmly adhering, matt, absorbent dispersion paints after a test area with a positive result.

Use & Application

Priming: Prime plasters, fillers, filled drywall boards, concrete and old emulsion paints with KREIDEZEIT Vega Primer or Casein Primer and allow to dry. Do not prime paper-based non-woven lining or paper wallpapers.

Mixing: Stir the powder into cold water with a powerful mixing paddle until free of lumps (brushing: approx. 750 ml, rolling: approx. 650 ml of water per kg of powder), leave to swell for 30 minutes, then stir again. If required, dilute further with up to 100–150 ml of water per kg.

Application: Minimum application temperature 8 °C. Usually two coats; the paint only achieves full opacity once dry. Brush on in a criss-cross pattern; when rolling, apply generously in a criss-cross pattern and finish by rolling off in one direction. Use mixed paint on the same day.

Drying: Recoatable after approx. 8 hours, fully dry after approx. 24 hours.

Tools & cleaning: Medium-pile polyamide paint rollers and wall brushes. Clean tools with water immediately after use.

Frequently asked questions

How much paint do I need?
The consumption is given in the Technical Data (g of powder per m² per coat). Two coats are generally needed for full opacity – so plan for twice the quantity.

Does the substrate need to be primed?
Pre-coat plasters, fillers, drywall boards, concrete and old emulsion paints with KREIDEZEIT Vega Primer or Casein Primer. Paper-based non-woven and paper wallpapers are not primed.

Can I tint the paint myself?
Yes, with KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments. Stir the pigments into the mixing water until free of lumps, or add them as a slurry to the fully swollen paint. The maximum permissible quantity is given in the technical data.

Is the paint suitable for bathrooms and kitchens?
For damp areas and areas exposed to splash water, we recommend KREIDEZEIT Slaked Lime Paint. This paint is intended for living rooms and bedrooms under normal use, hallways and ceilings.

How long does the mixed paint keep?
Use mixed paint on the same day (distemper 2–3 days). Small leftover quantities can be frozen for later touch-ups. Do not use paint that smells putrid.
