LINSEED OIL FOR WOOD CARE
Linseed oil for building materials and health
Natural oils for wood care should be linseed oil-based. The range of linseed oil products is wide; depending on how the linseed oil is further processed, it yields oils and oil blends for many applications, not only in house building with natural building materials.
Raw linseed oil is used for an initial priming coat. Boiled linseed oil, in turn, is used to care for wooden parts. So-called stand oil can be added to blends to increase strength and weather resistance. Hard oils are produced by adding a proportion of wax. Unfortunately, there are some oils on the market that contain solvents to make them penetrate deeper into the wood or to suggest easier application. However, as pure linseed oil is very easy to work with, adding solvents is unnecessary. Moreover, these solvents off-gas over a long period, which can cause an unpleasant odour nuisance or even harm to health. Using pure linseed oil is therefore equally beneficial for your building materials and for your health.
