Conluto Top coat earth-moist plaster

Clay topcoat plaster is a mixture of clay, sand and barley straw and is usually applied to a thickness of 5 to 10 mm.
Application of Conluto top coat plaster:
Finishing plaster is usually applied in one coat. The layer thickness is between 5 and 10 mm, 8 mm is recommended (also for calculating the quantity)
The finishing plaster can be applied by hand with a trowel or with various plastering machines. When choosing the right machine for clay plaster, make sure that the grain size is suitable and that the machine can process earth-moist clay.
After applying the finishing plaster the surface is smoothed and finished with a rubbing board or sponge board. Smoothing the fresh plaster is best done with an h-bar trowel or another plastering bar. Rubbing with rubbing boards compacts the surface and hardens the clay. Rubbing with sponge boards equalises the surface, but without compacting it. The abrasion of a sponged surface is therefore somewhat higher. However, the proper rubbing of a plastered surface requires a little more practice to achieve a good finish.
Paint on Clay
The best way to finish a wall with Conluto clay finishing plaster is with a Conluto clay paint or a Conluto clay plaster. If you prefer a rustic look, you can also leave the finishing plaster as it is. Priming with the transparent casein primer makes sense, especially if the surface has been sponged. The casein is open to diffusion and only marginally changes the properties of the clay, but sanding is prevented.
