GekkkoSOL paint
Ready-to-use, one-component white wall paint on a silicate base (water glasses) for interiors. Adheres to almost any substrate – especially for renovating firmly adhering plastic-based old coatings. Thin only with GekkkoSOL thinner, not with water. Coverage: approx. 0.125 l/m² per coat on smooth substrates (higher on rougher surfaces).
KREIDEZEIT GekkkoSOL Paint is a highly opaque, single-component white silicate-based wall paint. The binder is silicon dioxide dissolved in water with a very large specific surface area, resulting in strong adhesion on almost all substrates, including firmly adhering emulsion paints.
GekkkoSOL paint may only be thinned with GekkkoSOL thinner (Art. 137), not with water. It contains no organic binders; please refer to the full declaration (including titanium dioxide and preservatives). Can be tinted with KREIDEZEIT pigments.
Properties
- ready to use, single-component, colour white, excellent opacity
- mineral (silicate), contains no organic binders
- very high adhesion to many substrates, including old synthetic coatings
- highly vapour-permeable: sd value < 0.02 m (DIN EN ISO 12572)
- splash-proof, resistant to acids, alkalis and many solvents
- can be tinted with KREIDEZEIT pigments
- vegan
Suitable substrates
Mineral plasters, concrete, plasterboard, gypsum fibreboards and firmly adhering, matt existing coatings – including emulsion paints.
Application & Processing
Thinning: Only with GekkkoSOL Thinner (Art. 137), up to approx. 10 % – never with water. Thinning is recommended on absorbent substrates (lime-cement plaster, gypsum plaster).
Application: Brush out very thinly – coats that are too thick may crack. Use only short-pile rollers (max. 1.5 cm pile) or a paint brush/block brush. One coat on light substrates, two on dark/high-contrast substrates.
Drying: Recoatable after approx. 8 hours, fully dry after approx. 24 hours.
Tools & cleaning: Short-pile rollers, paint brush. Clean tools immediately with water or warm soapy water (Korfu Seife).

Frequently asked questions
What is GekkkoSOL paint particularly suitable for?
For renovating firmly adhering existing synthetic-based coatings (emulsion paints), where pure lime or casein paints adhere poorly.
Can I thin it with water?
No. Only with GekkkoSOL thinner (Art. 137). Water interferes with the silicate binding process.
Why does the coating sometimes crack?
It has been applied too thickly. GekkkoSOL Farbe has very high hiding power and must be spread out very thinly with short-pile rollers or a wide wall brush.
Can I tint GekkkoSOL paint?
Yes, with KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments. A top coat with KREIDEZEIT wall paints and glazes is also possible.
