Underlay board for improved impact sound insulation

Modern floors must meet both visual and technical requirements. GUTEX Happy Step helps your new parquet or laminate floor meet these requirements: the base board is made of wood fibre and not only increases your walking comfort, but also reduces impact sound – depending on the build-up – by up to 30 dB. And because it additionally insulates your floor, it noticeably helps to prevent cold feet or increased energy consumption. No matter whether you lay the base board on a substrate such as mastic asphalt, screed, timber flooring, etc.

Build-up for different floor coverings 

Engineered parquet/laminate

• Laying GUTEX Happy Step as a floating floor
• Lay prefinished parquet or laminate as a floating floor (follow the manufacturer's guidelines)
• On substrates that are not dry, install moisture protection beneath the GUTEX Happy Step

Carpet

• Bond GUTEX Happy Step to the substrate over the full surface using carpet adhesive
• Gluing down carpet
• With carpets, the board joints may show through
• Not suitable for castor chairs; high point loads can cause indentations

Cork

• Bond GUTEX Happy Step to the substrate over the full surface using carpet adhesive
• Bond cork (at least 6 mm) to GUTEX Happy Step using carpet adhesive
