Application
HP 9 is used as a base coat plaster for interiors (including wet rooms) and exteriors and as a masonry mortar. HP 9 G is very well suited as a bonding coat for lime plaster on existing clay. For this, HP 9 G is brushed onto the clay with a wide wall brush. The liquid lime penetrates well and at the same time creates a granular surface that ensures adhesion of the subsequent plaster. HP 9 can be applied to all types of masonry as well as to rough-formed concrete, pumice concrete and no-fines concrete. On highly absorbent substrates and in very warm weather, the substrate must be sufficiently pre-wetted. If necessary, the plaster must be moistened with water after application. Concrete ceilings must first be pre-coated with the HP 14 lime bonding plaster using a notched trowel. Once this has hardened sufficiently, HP 9 is applied at a thickness of approx. 10 mm. HP 9 can be applied with all standard plastering machines and conveyed in all common pumping systems. Please observe the machine manufacturers' operating instructions. For hand application, mix the contents of the sack with approx. 7 l water/sack in a free-fall mixer, compulsory mixer or with a paddle mixer. The plaster thickness is 20 mm outside and 15 mm inside. After application, HP 9 is levelled flat with a screeding rule. Work one room at a time. Remove any sinter skin that may form. Areas with increased application thickness as well as concrete or Styrodur surfaces coated with lime bonding plaster must be given a spatterdash coat first. Only finish once the plaster has stiffened. The finished plaster should be left for at least 1 day per mm of application thickness before being painted with mineral paint (e.g. HP 9000 lime casein paint, HP 9100 slaked lime paint) or finished with a mineral top coat plaster (e.g. HP 90 fine lime plaster, HP 900 lime skim finish). In certain cases (e.g. excess thickness, old buildings, unfavourable weather conditions etc.), a longer standing time is required.
