Volume 3 of the Lehmmuseum Gnevsdorf publication series is published to accompany the special exhibition "Franz Volhard – Architect and Researcher in Earth Building" at the Lehmmuseum Gnevsdorf.

Through systematic investigations of historic buildings, Franz Volhard has gained in-depth knowledge of traditional earth building techniques. The results of this research formed the basis for drafting the Lehmbau Regeln, as well as for the planning and execution of his renovation and new-build projects.

The work of Schauer+Volhard Architekten shows by example how contemporary architecture emerges from the interplay of research and architectural practice. The booklet series shows in an aesthetic way how various designers view the development of clay construction today.
