Description
Jute fabric
The simple jute mesh is only suitable as a reinforcing mesh to a limited extent. It is ideal for use in plasters made from mineral and plant-based raw materials. As it is not stiffened, the individual mesh fibres shift very easily, and the fibres also readily soak up water from the plaster. This means that this mesh can be used as a plaster mesh, but should be used with caution.
Protect lime plaster from drying out
When lime plaster is applied to façades in summer or in strong sunlight, it must be protected from drying out too quickly. This simple fabric is ideal for the job. It is simply hung over the scaffolding and kept moist. This creates a microclimate of its own behind the fabric; the moisture ensures that the lime cannot dry out too quickly.
This simple jute fabric can also make it easier to produce clay-straw rolls. The jute fabric can be used as a substitute for long straw.
Jute, starched and unstarched
For jute reinforcement mesh, I recommend the stiffened version. It is stabilised with a plant-based starch and is therefore much easier to work with.
The difference between the two jute meshes can be clearly seen in the picture. The stiff mesh is much more stable and firmer.
