KREIDEZEIT Kalk Streichputz is a ready-to-use lime paint in accordance with DIN 55945 containing white marble sand with a grain size of 0.7 mm. It gives smooth substrates a pronounced plaster texture, preserves the texture of roughly floated plasters and evens out differences in texture.

Kalk Streichputz is suitable as a high-build intermediate coat beneath KREIDEZEIT Sumpfkalkfarbe (lime putty paint) and as a base for wall glazes. Thanks to its favourable sd value, long-lasting alkalinity and a surface that helps prevent condensation, it is suitable for damp rooms.

Suitable substrates

Interior: untreated mineral plasters, concrete, stone, masonry, plasterboard, gypsum fibreboard, non-woven paper wallcoverings, all KREIDEZEIT wall paints and plasters (except distemper), matt absorbent emulsion paints (after a test area).

Use & Application

Priming: Prime plasters, fillers, drywall boards, concrete and old emulsion paints with KREIDEZEIT Vega Primer or Casein Primer. Do not prime paper-based non-woven lining/paper wallpapers.

Application: Apply only with a paint brush using criss-cross strokes – do not roll and do not spray. Minimum application temperature 8 °C.

Thinning: Undiluted or with 5–10 % water, so that it can be brushed on easily.

Drying: approx. 8 hours at 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity.

Tools & cleaning: Good-quality paint brushes. Clean tools immediately with water.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the surface look cloudy / iridescent?
Lime paints without titanium white create lively surfaces that shift slightly depending on the incidence of light. Applying the paint with a brush in criss-cross strokes enhances this character; tinted lime paint is not applied with a roller.

Is lime paint suitable for damp rooms?
Yes. The considerable sd-value advantage (see technical data), the long-lasting alkalinity and the surface that prevents condensation make lime paint suitable for bathrooms and damp rooms.

Do I need to prime?
Prime plasters, fillers, drywall boards, concrete and old emulsion paints with KREIDEZEIT Vega Primer or Casein Primer. Do not prime paper-based nonwoven or paper wallpapers.

What can I use to tint lime paint?
KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments: first mix them into a lump-free slurry with a little water, then stir them in. For quantities per colour shade, see Technical Data. Use lime paint tinted with ultramarine within 12 hours.

Can I roll lime paint?
Apply white lime paint wet-on-wet by roller on low-absorbency substrates; otherwise, brush it on. Never roll tinted lime paint. Only apply it with a paint brush.
