KREIDEZEIT Kalkglätte (lime smoothing plaster) is a versatile, adhesion-enhanced mineral finishing plaster for interior use (grain size 0.5 mm). Hydrated marble lime and Italian marble powders give it a high degree of whiteness and good binding and bonding properties, without synthetic resin binders and without titanium white.

Lime smoothing plaster is a ready-to-finish surface, easy to sand and can be smoothed, textured or burnished to a sheen. It is an ideal base coat for stucco and wall glaze techniques. Thanks to its favourable sd value, long-lasting alkalinity and a surface that prevents condensation, it is suitable for wet rooms.

Geeignete Untergründe

Untreated mineral plasters, concrete, plasterboard, gypsum fibreboard, paper-based non-woven wallcoverings (hung with waterproof adhesive). Prime beforehand with KREIDEZEIT Casein Primer or Vega Primer.

Anwendung & Verarbeitung

Priming: Prime plasters, fillers, drywall boards and concrete with Casein Primer or Vega Primer.

Mixing: Stir in 0.3–0.32 l of water per kg of powder until free of lumps, leave to swell for at least 15 minutes, then stir again.

Application: Apply with a smoothing trowel and felt, smooth, texture or burnish to a shine as desired. On burnished lime finishing plaster, the shine can be enhanced with polishing soap.

Water-repellent treatment: Can be made water-repellent with a 2 % solution of KREIDEZEIT Korfu Seife – apply thinly from the bottom upwards, do not roll, ideally within 24 hours.

Drying: Dry and ready for overcoating after 24 hours per mm of application thickness at the earliest (20 °C, 65 % RH).

Tools & cleaning: Smoothing trowel/plastering trowel. Clean tools immediately with water.

Note: Lime products are strongly alkaline – protect eyes and skin and cover adjacent surfaces. Observe the safety data sheet.

Häufige Fragen

Can I carry out the technique myself?
Lime filler and smoothing techniques take practice. Prepare a test area beforehand; for demanding projects we recommend a training course or an experienced applicator.

Which primer / which base plaster do I need?
As a rule, Vega Primer or Casein Primer and a smooth skim coat of KREIDEZEIT Lime Smoothing Plaster or Lime Bonding Plaster -fine-. The texture of the base plaster will show through.

Is the surface waterproof?
After treatment with KREIDEZEIT Smoothing Soap, the surface becomes water-repellent (not waterproof) and less prone to soiling, also in damp rooms (not areas exposed to permanent wetness).

What can I use for tinting?
Lime-resistant KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments. The maximum permissible quantity is given in the Technical Data.
