Kanop lightweight hemp-lime loose fill
Ready-to-use loose-fill insulation made of hemp shiv and a lime-based mineral binder for intermediate floors and unconverted lofts – simply poured in by hand, without mixing and without a machine. Thermal conductivity λD 0,054 W/(m·K), bulk density 194 kg/m³. Available as a 1000-litre big bag (approx. 194 kg, 1 per pallet) and as a 60-litre bag (approx. 11,6 kg, 33 per pallet).
Kanop – hemp and lime loose-fill insulation – big bag 1000 litres or bag 60 litres
Kanop by IsoHemp is a ready-to-use loose-fill insulation made of hemp shiv and a lime-based mineral binder. It is poured in by hand straight from the bag, without mixing and without a machine, and provides thermal and acoustic insulation between storeys.
Applications
- Filling intermediate floors (e.g. timber joist floors)
- Insulating unconverted lofts
- Filling the voids between cross battens under timber floorboards, e.g. on lime screed
- Service layer on solid timber floors: fill the areas around pipes and cables with Kanop, wood fibre insulation boards in between (e.g. Gutex Thermosafe-WD), followed by a membrane, hemp felt and screed
- New build and renovation
- Complementary to the IsoHemp hemp-lime block
Application & storage
- Before installation, have the permissible load of the floor checked by a qualified professional – see the table below for the weight of Kanop
- Lay a membrane under the joists, turn it up at the edges to 5 cm above the fill height and seal all joints tightly
- Ready to use – pour straight from the big bag or bag and spread evenly
- The material settles by approx. 10 % when placed – plan quantities accordingly; according to the manufacturer, no further settlement after installation
- Optionally lay an impact sound insulation strip on the joists, then close the floor with OSB boards
- Cover heat-emitting elements such as recessed lights before filling; keep the distance to chimney flues specified by the flue manufacturer – without specification at least 8 cm for metal and 10 cm for masonry flues – using a non-combustible barrier
- Store dry and protected from moisture, shelf life 6 months
