The GLAPOR PG 600.3 cellular glass board is a compression-resistant thermal insulation board made from 100 % recycled glass for load-bearing insulation. It is used beneath floor slabs and screeds, in perimeter and plinth areas and on flat roofs, and combines high compressive strength with lasting dimensional stability.

Cellular glass is a closed-cell glass foam: the board does not absorb water, is practically vapour-tight, non-combustible (Euroclass A1) and resistant to rot, rodents, insects and most chemicals. Its insulating performance remains unchanged throughout its entire service life.

The compact format measures 600 × 400 mm and is available in thicknesses of 40, 60, 80, 100, 120 and 140 mm. GLAPOR supplies boards exclusively on Euro pallets – the order increment in the shop corresponds to one full pallet of the respective thickness.

Benefits at a glance

  • Compression-resistant and load-bearing – nominal compressive stress 600 kPa, design value 250 kPa (around 25 t/m²), can be installed directly beneath the floor slab
  • Does not absorb water and is practically vapour-tight – no saturation, no thermal bridges caused by moisture
  • Non-combustible – Euroclass A1
  • Dimensionally stable and compression-proof – no settling, no yielding under permanent load
  • Resistant to rot, rodents, insects and many chemicals
  • Design value of thermal conductivity 0.054 W/(m·K)
  • Made from 100 % recycled glass; Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) according to EN 15804 available
  • Resistant to ageing – constant insulating performance throughout the entire service life

Application & installation

Depending on the application, GLAPOR cellular glass boards are bonded over their full surface, fully embedded and with staggered joints using hot bitumen, cold bitumen or cold adhesive; the butt joints are filled with adhesive. The substrate must be level, sound and load-bearing, dry and free of loose particles. Boards can be cut to size with a hand saw.

Tip: For load-bearing applications beneath the floor slab, follow GLAPOR's installation guidelines. GLAPOR recommends that private users have the work carried out by a specialist contractor.

Frequently asked questions

What is the GLAPOR PG 600.3 cellular glass board used for?

For load-bearing thermal insulation beneath floor slabs and screeds, for perimeter and plinth insulation and for flat roofs. Laid directly beneath the floor slab, it replaces conventional perimeter insulation such as XPS.

Can the board take loads?

Yes. The nominal compressive stress is 600 kPa and the design value 250 kPa – this corresponds to around 25 t/m². The board can therefore be installed directly beneath a load-bearing floor slab.

Do I need an additional moisture barrier?

Cellular glass itself does not absorb water and is practically vapour-tight. Which additional standard waterproofing is required depends on the construction and the approval – GLAPOR's installation guidelines apply here.

Which thickness do I need?

The thickness depends on the required thermal insulation or U-value specification. With a design value of 0.054 W/(m·K), a 120 mm board, for example, provides an insulation value of around 0.45 W/(m²·K) on its own. The exact design is carried out by the specialist planner.

Why is the board only available by the pallet?

GLAPOR supplies boards exclusively on Euro pallets. The order increment corresponds to one full pallet of the respective thickness – in the compact format, for example, 24 m² at 40 mm and 6.72 m² at 140 mm.

How is the board installed?

Bond over the full surface with staggered joints (hot bitumen or cold adhesive), fill the butt joints; the substrate must be level and load-bearing. Cutting is done with a saw. GLAPOR recommends having the work carried out by a specialist contractor.
