Reed mesh, coarse, 1 x 5 m
Plaster base for clay plaster and lime plaster on wood, in half-timbered or timber frame construction, extra strong reed quality,
500 x 100 cm, dispatch by parcel
The coarse reed mesh from Hiss Reet is a strong plaster base made of straight-grown reed stalks up to 13 mm in diameter. Approx. 60 to 65 stalks per running metre are bound with galvanised wire at intervals of approx. 10 cm. It also carries thick plaster layers and is suitable as permanent formwork for interior insulation with light clay.
Applications
- Plaster base for thick clay, lime or cement plasters on timber, in timber-frame and timber-stud construction, indoors and outdoors
- Plaster base on OSB boards and timber boarding, on sloping ceilings and curves
- Permanent formwork for light-clay interior insulation: the mesh is fixed to battens as spacers and the light clay is filled in behind it. The open mesh allows the light clay to dry out well.
- Reinforcement of clay and lime plaster
A fine mesh is also available
For thinner plaster layers and tight radii there is the fine reed mesh 1 × 5 m with stalks up to 8 mm and approx. 70 stalks per metre. It can also be embedded well as reinforcement in a thick plaster. For thick plaster layers, large spans and permanent formwork, the coarse mesh remains the better choice.
Installation
Unroll the mesh on the timber substrate and fix it with staples, for example galvanised or stainless steel staples from a staple gun. Overlap the mats at the joints or embed additional reinforcement in the plaster so that it does not crack there. Press the first coat firmly into the mesh: it keys in between the stalks and so forms a firm bond with the substrate even with thick plaster layers.

Frequently asked questions
Coarse or fine mesh – which do I need?
Coarse for thick plaster layers, spans across timber framing and as permanent formwork. Fine for thinner plaster layers, tight radii and as reinforcement within the plaster.
How many rolls do I need?
One roll covers 5 m². Add about 5 to 10 % for the overlap at the joints.
What do I fix the mesh with?
With staples from a staple gun, on timber preferably galvanised or stainless steel so that no rust stains form in the plaster.
