Straw Clay for Clay Infill Panels
by Claytec
Raw straw-clay mix for repairing and renewing infill panels and for filling timber-frame ceilings. ‘Lehmschlag’ (daubed clay) is the original form of clay building material in timber-frame construction. The straw-clay mixture was traditionally prepared using animal power and applied by the ‘Kleiber’, the clay craftsman. The earth-moist mix is best prepared with a paddle mixer and applied with a trowel in a plastic, stiff consistency onto the wattle or lath framework. Strohlehm ANTIK contains a particularly high proportion of long straw.
