Lime putty paint – filled
Ready-to-use lime paint to DIN 55945 for interior and exterior – without synthetic resin binders and without titanium white. Highly vapour-permeable, strongly alkaline, suitable for damp rooms. Tintable with KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments. Coverage: approx. 0.20 l/m² per coat (usually 2 coats recommended) – 1 l ≈ 5 m², 5 l ≈ 25 m², 10 l ≈ 50 m² per coat.
KREIDEZEIT Sumpfkalkfarbe is a ready-to-use lime paint to DIN 55945 for interior and exterior use. Finely dispersed marble lime provides a high degree of whiteness and strong binding and adhesive properties – without synthetic resin binders and without synthetic pigments such as titanium white.
Thanks to its favourable sd value, long-lasting alkalinity and condensation-preventing surface, lime putty paint is suitable for damp rooms. As a rule, it covers in two coats; outdoors, three coats extend its durability. For a filled version with a fine plaster texture, see KREIDEZEIT Sumpfkalkfarbe – gefüllt.

Suitable substrates
Interior: untreated mineral plasters, concrete, stone, masonry, plasterboard, gypsum fibreboard, non-woven paper wallcoverings, all KREIDEZEIT wall paints and plasters (except distemper), matt absorbent emulsion paints (after a test area). Exterior: only vertical, untreated, weather-resistant lime plasters – not on ETICS, free-standing walls, horizontal or sloping surfaces.
Use & Application
Priming: Prime plasters, fillers, drywall boards, concrete and old emulsion paints with KREIDEZEIT Vega Primer or Casein Primer. Do not prime paper-based non-woven lining/paper wallpapers.
Application: Application with a wall brush using cross strokes is recommended. White lime putty paint can be rolled wet-on-wet on low-absorbency substrates (test area first); do not roll tinted lime putty paint. Airless spraying possible from 200 bar. Application temperature at least 8 °C.
Thinning: Undiluted or with 5–10 % water, so that the paint can be brushed on easily.
Façade / water-repellent treatment: Treat exterior surfaces with a 2 % solution of KREIDEZEIT Korfu Seife (20 g flakes/l water) to make them water-repellent – apply thinly with a brush from bottom to top, do not use a roller, ideally within 24 hours of painting.
Drying: approx. 8 hours at 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity; low temperatures extend the drying time. Protect exterior coatings from sun and rain for the first few days.
Tools & cleaning: Medium-pile polyamide rollers and wall brushes. Clean tools immediately with water.

Full declaration
Marble hydrated lime, marble powders, sinter water, methyl cellulose. The complete product information (technical data sheet and safety data sheet) must be observed during application.
Note: Lime products are strongly alkaline – protect eyes and skin and cover adjacent surfaces (glass, metal, natural stone). Observe the safety data sheet.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the surface look cloudy / iridescent?
Lime paints without titanium white create lively surfaces that shift slightly depending on the incidence of light. Applying the paint with a brush in criss-cross strokes enhances this character; tinted lime paint is not applied with a roller.
Is lime paint suitable for damp rooms?
Yes. The considerable sd-value advantage (see technical data), the long-lasting alkalinity and the surface that prevents condensation make lime paint suitable for bathrooms and damp rooms.
Do I need to prime?
Prime plasters, fillers, drywall boards, concrete and old emulsion paints with KREIDEZEIT Vega Primer or Casein Primer. Do not prime paper-based nonwoven or paper wallpapers.
What can I use to tint lime paint?
KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments: first mix them into a lump-free slurry with a little water, then stir them in. For quantities per colour shade, see Technical Data. Use lime paint tinted with ultramarine within 12 hours.
Can I roll lime paint?
Apply white lime paint wet-on-wet by roller on low-absorbency substrates; otherwise, brush it on. Never roll tinted lime paint. Only apply it with a paint brush.
