Gutex Thermoflex - flexible wood fibre insulation batt

Gutex Thermoflex is a flexible, friction-fit wood fibre insulation batt which, thanks to its uniformly fine fibre structure, holds perfectly in the cavity between framing members and can be cut almost dust-free.

With a thermal conductivity of λ D = 0.036 W/mK and a high specific heat capacity of 2100 J/kgK, it protects the building against heat loss in winter – and against overheating in summer.

Properties:

  • Flexible wood fibre insulation mat made from PEFC-certified spruce & fir wood

  • Thermal conductivity λD = 0.036 W/mK, design value λB = 0.038 W/mK (ρ ≈ 50 kg/m³)

  • Vapour-permeable (µ = 2 | sd value 0.06 – 0.48 m) – moisture-regulating and capillary-active

  • Specific heat capacity c = 2100 J/kgK for excellent protection against summer heat and winter cold

  • Temperature-resistant up to 110 °C, reaction to fire Euroclass E

  • Dimensionally stable, low-dust when cutting, stays permanently wedged in the cavity ― confirmed by ÖKO-TEST "very good" (05/2017)

The insulation batt is vapour-permeable (µ = 2) and can buffer temporary moisture, thereby actively contributing to a balanced indoor climate. Its bulk density of approx. 50 kg/m³ also provides effective sound insulation, while its temperature resistance up to 110 °C and its classification as Euroclass E provide safety in the event of fire.

Gutex Thermoflex - installation

Whether as between-rafter insulation in pitched roofs, infill insulation in timber-frame walls or for improving impact sound insulation in lightweight floor structures – Thermoflex adapts to every building element. With thicknesses from 40 to 240 mm, the handy boards (1350 × 575 mm) cover all common beam and stud cross-sections. Simply cut the mat 10 mm oversize, press-fit it snugly and reduce thermal bridges to a minimum. Special tools are not essential; an insulation saw blade for your jigsaw is sufficient.

Thanks to its high clamping force, the insulation stays permanently in place; the official clamping table specifies the maximum span for you.

Made from regional PEFC-certified fir and spruce wood, Thermoflex offers clear advantages: the material meets building-biology criteria, is recyclable and fulfils all requirements of DIN EN 13171. Low dust generation makes installation easier, reduces dust exposure for installers and keeps the site clean. In combination with the matching joint sealing tape, you can achieve airtight connections without chemical additives. At the end of its service life, Thermoflex can easily be recycled as category A2 waste wood or used for energy recovery. For tradespeople and homeowners alike, this means an insulation material that delivers lasting living comfort.
