Japanese Trowel Set
This trowel set made from high-quality Jigane steel contains a selection of the finest trowels in the world, forged by the Japanese master blacksmith Sugita-san. Sugita-san has won many awards and is certified in Japan as a traditional toolsmith. This certification is held in very high esteem in Japan. Sugita-san is a smith with a long heritage. He continues the famous Kajiwara line from Miki in Hyogo Prefecture. Miki is the heart of Japan's traditional blacksmithing history. Sugita-san is currently the most famous and most important blacksmith in Japan. His tools are used by the finest temple builders and by certified traditional craftspeople. Even compared with other, already very high-quality Jigane trowels, his Jigane trowels are in a class of their own. Sugita-san's trowels are hammered multiple times. With each further step, the Jigane steel becomes denser and at the same time more elastic and more durable. The hand-forged trowels are thicker and heavier than conventional Jigane trowels. This is an important prerequisite for high-quality Jigane trowels, as it makes applying and smoothing clay plasters considerably easier. The set contains 17 trowels from 3.5 to 27 cm, with lengths graded in 1.5 cm increments.
