Clay filler is the eco-friendly solution for creating fine, smooth interior wall and ceiling surfaces. It is applied in a thin layer, smoothed and, if necessary, sanded – much like traditional fillers, but with the benefits of a natural clay building material.
Coloured clay filler offers particularly good value for money: it combines the filler layer and the finished coloured surface in a single material. Instead of filling, sanding, priming and then painting, the wall can be finished directly as a coloured clay surface. This saves time, materials and several steps in the process.

This helps to visually smooth out small pores, imperfections and fine irregularities. Larger irregularities should be levelled out beforehand using a suitable clay plaster or fine clay plaster, as clay filler is intended as a thin finishing coat. To ensure a perfect result, it is advisable to test the product on a small area first.

Can you sand clay filler?

What colour can be painted onto clay filler?
Once the clay filler has dried completely, vapour-permeable coatings are suitable, particularly clay paint. Other suitable mineral or natural coating systems may also be used, provided they are compatible with the substrate. Is clay finishing compound suitable for damp rooms?
Clay finishing compound is suitable for indoor areas with normal humidity levels and, in many cases, also for domestic kitchens and bathrooms, provided there is no persistent damp or direct exposure to splashing water. Clay plasters and clay coatings are not suitable for rooms with persistently high humidity, such as public swimming pools or commercial catering kitchens.
