Its history is characterized by deeply rooted values, passion and know-how, which are shared and carried forward by a team of more than 130 employees and technicians.

From the beginning, Saint-Astier® has used its own quarry with a limestone deposit of over 350 hectares. It is an underground deposit known as the "Cathedral of Limestone" which ensures a constant and unique mineralogical quality even at a depth of 200 meters.

Monument preservation and restoration

The Saint-Astier® NHL is ideally suited to the challenges of monument preservation and the restoration of historic buildings.

There is a suitable product for every historical surface that can be mixed on the construction site. For each of the three NHLs there is a recipe for the different construction site mixtures. There is a suitable lime recipe for every surface.

The publication of the recipes by Saint-Astier® makes it easier to use construction site mixtures with lime. Safety through tested recipes and faster work are a big advantage for the craftsman.

Limestone soil

What is special here is the use of NHL 5 for cement-free screed. A screed (subfloor) can easily be created without cement or gypsum-based binders.

The lower primary energy content due to the use of NHL 5 instead of cement is one advantage. Another advantage is the diffusion capacity of a pure lime floor. The pure lime screed can handle moisture very well. In contrast to conventional screeds, lime floors can easily absorb and buffer moisture.

The application of a lime screed is no different from that of a cementitious screed. The only advantage is that the lime screed hardens more slowly and is therefore less stressful to work with.

Hemp-lime mortar and eco-constructions

Hemp lime from Saint-Astier® is a product that you can mix on the construction site from the two raw materials BATICHANVRE® and ISOCANNA® to create a highly insulating and long-lasting building material. The hemp lime can then be processed as an earth-moist mixture by hand or mechanically using the right spray machines.

Hemp lime can be used as an insulating wall, as internal insulation in front of an existing wall or for partition walls. When used for partition walls, the advantages of hemp and lime are built directly into the living space and the sound insulation is particularly good.

Floor insulation can be created in the floor area with the hemp lime. Please ensure that you do not insulate directly against wet soil.

The BATICHANVRE® can also be used as roof insulation. The rafters are provided with simple formwork from the bottom, and a notch or strip is made on the sides of the rafter as a connection. The hemp lime can then simply be filled in from above. After hardening and drying, the underlay board or underlayment can be applied.
