What is clay finish plaster suitable for?
Clay finish plaster is the visible layer of plaster applied to flat, load-bearing substrates. It is applied to prepared wall surfaces or Clay undercoat plaster and ensures the finished surface.
Typical applications:

Which clay finish is the right one?
The most important decision: with or without straw.
Clay finish coat with straw is the classic choice for natural, textured surfaces. The chopped straw acts as a fine fibre reinforcement: it stabilises the render layer, enhances the bond and allows for thicker finish coat layers.
Clay finish coat without straw, such as the universal plaster conluto Terra clay plaster coarse iis the more mineral-based alternative for people with sensitive skin, grass allergies or for long-term storage. It can be used as a finishing coat and levelling coat in a layer thickness of 5–15 mm.
There is also Clay fine finish plaster earth-moist and Fine finish plaster dry. Earth-moist mix is ideal for larger areas and direct use on site. The dry mix is slightly more expensive, but offers greater flexibility: it can be mixed as required and, if stored in a dry place, has an indefinite shelf life.
Processing and surface
Clay finish plaster is applied to a level, solid, clean and dry substrate. Depending on the desired finish, the surface is worked with a trowel, sponge board or rubbing board.
This rubbing-down process creates the characteristic mineral clay texture. At the same time, the surface is compacted and prepared for further finishing. If you wish to add colour, you can continue working with clay paint or clay render once the surface is completely dry.
The further build-up of the coating
Clay finish plaster can be left as it is, with its finished, textured surface. If you want the wall to be finer, coloured or smoother, the appropriate next step should be taken once it has dried completely.
